Self Reflection

Volunteering is a new experience that I enjoyed in because I did new things I learned a lot of things and I met new people.

First of all I volunteered on “Abilities me” I was very excited because it was my first experience in volunteering, I thought about volunteering before but I did not had a chance so it was a good opportunity for me.
The meeting was in the day before the beginning of “Abilities me” they introduce us to the fair aspects and tell us about the places of the activates and conference etc..

First day was the hardest because we were new to this experience but it was good I was on the workshop and then we helped in some souvenirs. Second day was okay I’m still in the workshop and I went to the emirate autism society to help them also there was a very big event in that day sheikh Saif bin Zayed came to the fair it was an honor to meet him, in the third day a lot of things were happening our teacher came to the fair and also players of alwahda team I worked in the workshop and I helped two blind ladies in the conference.

I learned a lot of thing like disabilities people can achieve, they also can be better than the normal people in some times, this experience changed my outlook in many was now I will not be afraid of hearting there feelings now I know that if they want any help they will ask for it they don’t have to feel like the are in need for us or some thing like that.

In the end I think that I see it differently now and I will not look at them as if they are disabilities people and they can’t do any thing but I will start looking at them as if they are normal people and they can do things better than us.

In the second day of the volunteering Eman tell us to help tow blind ladies in the conference and I was wondering how I should deal with them in a good way without hearing their feeling, but when I dealt with them I found that it is easier than what I thought.

After guiding the tow ladies to the exit door, we went to the workshop as usual and the subject of the session was about New England Centre for Children.

The big event on that day was the visit of  Sheik Saif Bin Zayed, I took a number of picture of him, and the aim of his visit was to support special needs.

23-March-2014

We went to ADNEC to attend volunteers meeting for abilities me and I took some photos of the exhibition aspects:

Firstly the arrangers gave us an introductory speech about the “abilities me” and the aims of these exhibition&conference is to concentrate on the special needs abilities instead of there disabilities.

In these meeting we learned how to greet people, guide them and about important points that we should/should not do when we deal or meet disabilities people.
Then they gave us a tour in the exhibition so we can guide people to their way into the exhibition aspects, they divided us into groups, each group is responsible for a section of “abilities me”.

while we had a tour and look around the exhibition there was some inventions that will help disabilities people, like these for example:

It is moving in a straight line until something show up in front of it that makes it stops by its self.
